- You don't own physical copies of the books
- You don't own physical copies of the books
You aren't any less of a fan or reader because of that. Many times we don't have the possibilities to buy them, either for lack of money or space but do know the authors are thankful for your support any way you can give it.
- You forget details, characters, plots
You aren't any less of a fan or reader because of that. We, readers, consume so many books that is impossible to keep up with so many. Even if you reread a book a hundred times, you will most likely find out things you missed before.
- You don't like something your favorite author wrote
Remember that we all have preferences and limits. Authors are always trying to prove themselves they can go far, reach new audience they can take them in a new ride. It doesn't mean you have to like everything they write.
- You love books with darker elements
Keep in mind that what we love in a fictional world doesn't always apply in real life. It doesn't mean you would act/react the same way or support it. Sometimes reading is coming out of our shells. Don't let others judge you for it.
- You need a break and stop reading for a while
The act of reading should be a pleasure. Take those breaks if you need and come back when you feel it's time to do so. Taking breaks doesn't mean you don't love reading and books, it means your head isn't aligned with it and you need time for yourself. Enjoy yourself so you will enjoy the rest after.
- You love books that others hate and vice versa
We all have our own preferences. Don't let others make you feel guilty for loving a book they didn't like at all or the other way around. Our thoughts, opinions and issues we find are ours and individual. What you see right or wrong, won't be the same for everyone. At the end of the day, you are you.
- Your favorite author isn't your favorite anymore
You have the right to find new authors and books, you shouldn't feel guilty if you end up prefering someone else writing style or if what you used to love doesn't attract you anymore. If you don't see yourself in their stories always remember it is ok to end a circle.
- You're stuck on a genre and don't want to try others
While exploring is good because you never know if you are missing THE book, don't be ashamed if you don't want to. Reading should be a pleasure, not something to be forced. We all have our likes and dislikes. You always have time to change that later on if you feel like it, it's ok.
